Similar cold alone does not make results transferable. Relevant research on the specific product and intended purpose would be needed.
</details><details>
Are personal experiences the same as scientific evidence?

No. Personal accounts can describe how someone experienced a session. Without a controlled comparison, they cannot establish what caused a change. We do not derive medical performance promises from such accounts.
</details><details>
Why are some findings favourable and others inconclusive?

Participants, comparison groups, equipment, duration and measurement times differ. A post-exercise measurement also answers a different question from research into a disease. We therefore present limitations alongside results.
</details><details>
Can I use these studies as instructions for a session or treatment?

No. Research conditions are not operating instructions. If you have a medical condition or are uncertain, a qualified medical assessment of personal suitability is needed. Equipment training and safety instructions remain essential.
</details>

How this collection was prepared

Purpose: Make research on possible responses to cold air easier to understand. This editorial selection is not a comprehensive systematic literature review or a medical guideline.

Selection: Identifiable publications with authors, year and DOI. The focus is human research on whole-body cold exposure and reviews that distinguish between cold methods.

Interpretation: Favourable findings, absent differences and limitations are presented together. Sample size, design and transferability are stated. We do not assign our own clinical evidence grade.

Scope: Research on water, local cooling or cryosurgery is not used as proof for cold chambers. Claims that cannot be clearly checked are not presented as findings.

Update: On 24 September 2026, PubMed and publisher pages were additionally checked for newer reviews of whole-body cold exposure and post-exercise recovery. A 2026 paper was added. This was not an exhaustive search of all databases.

Who is responsible? The original research is the work of the named authors.
